Professor of Theater Arts

Ben Naasz holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory and an MFA in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in Scenic Design from the University of Arizona. Combining performance artistry with technical expertise, he brings a holistic understanding of storytelling to every aspect of theatre production and education.

A seasoned performer, director, and designer, Ben has appeared in several film projects, worked on the CBS sitcom Danny, and been involved in dozens of theatrical productions over his 30 years of experience. His extensive background both onstage and behind the scenes reflects a lifelong commitment to collaboration, creativity, and the power of performance to connect communities.

As a faculty member in Performing Arts at Yavapai College, Ben leads programs in acting, musical theatre, and technical production, helping students bridge creative expression with professional-level design and performance skills. His teaching emphasizes ensemble work, creative problem-solving, and the integration of emerging technologies into live storytelling.

Beyond academia, Ben and his wife, Sasha, co-founded The Movement Studio in Prescott Valley, Arizona—a thriving hub for dance, theatre, and fitness that serves as both a creative incubator and a community cornerstone. Together, they also established Footlight Productions, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing accessible arts education and producing high-quality theatrical experiences for the community.

Ben’s mission is to inspire curiosity, discipline, and collaboration in the next generation of performers and designers. Whether teaching in the classroom, directing on stage, or mentoring young artists, he continues to champion accessible, high-quality arts education that empowers individuals to tell their stories boldly and authentically.
