Regency Reimagined: YC Performing Arts Department Presents a Bold New Sense & Sensibility Nov. 14-23

Prescott, Arizona (October 15, 2025) – The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center proudly announces the Yavapai College Performing Arts Department’s upcoming fall production, Sense & Sensibility, with six performances November 14-23.

In the year marking Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, YC Performing Arts honors her enduring legacy with a daring new interpretation that reimagines her world through a modern artistic lens.

Based on Jane Austen’s beloved novel, this fresh interpretation - directed by Scottie Scott - transforms the classic Regency romance with a daring edgy, grunge-inspired visual style. Seamlessly blending Austen’s elegance with modern attitude, this production brings new life to the story of the Dashwood sisters as they navigate love, loss, and societal expectations.

“From the vibrant colors to the film-inspired ‘single shot’ movement, every artistic choice bursts with creativity and emotion,” says Scott. “The production is driven by energy and artistic freedom. The lighting design explores character emotion, the set embraces cinematic fluidity, and our performers are stepping into their roles with bold authenticity.”

This Regency Reimagined staging showcases an inspired collaboration between YC’s student performers and creative team. The production not only honors Austen’s wit and heart but also empowers young artists to express themselves in a way that feels current, powerful, and undeniably human.

To make the evening even more memorable, patrons are invited to ‘Enhance Your Experience’ with a Jane Austen High Tea, hosted on the mezzanine prior to select performances. Guests will enjoy a charming pre-show tea service with delightful treats and a special meet and greet with members of the cast in character. High Tea gatherings will take place on Saturday, November 15 at 1 PM and Saturday, November 22 at 1 PM. Seating is limited for this intimate Austen-inspired experience.

Step into Austen’s world - reinvented with bold storytelling, cinematic movement, and fresh artistic voice. Don’t miss this unforgettable reimagining of Sense & Sensibility, live on stage at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center for six performances only.
