The Patty McMullen-Mikles Gallery demonstrates a diverse range of visual art exhibitions, featuring both nationally recognized artists and emerging artists, providing opportunities for the presentation of art in all media. Formerly the Verde Art Gallery, the gallery has been dedicated in celebration and honor of beloved Artist, YC Art Professor, and gallery founder Patty McMullen-Mikles. The Patty McMullen-Mikles Gallery is located on the Verde Valley Campus in Clarkdale, Arizona. The beautiful 950 sq ft space with high ceilings features sweeping views of the Verde Valley and abundant natural lighting. Track lighting and professional displays present the art in a museum quality setting. The gallery is easily accessible and visited by many students, community members, and out-of-town guests. A Space for Freedom

February 26th - April 2nd, 2026

A Space for Freedom is a juried exhibition at the Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery that reflects on freedom.

We are honored to have Tai Lipan from Northern Arizona University, Beasley Gallery join us as Juror. Featuring portraits that explore the people and identities connected to freedom, the exhibition also includes three-dimensional works that consider how freedom takes shape within space. An international postcard project invited mailed art that explores the meaning of freedom by artists from across the globe. Presented in celebration of America 250, A Space for Freedom invites viewers to pause, reflect, and consider the many ways freedom can be expressed and experienced.

Community Call: Freedom Postcard Project

What does freedom mean to you? We welcome creative responses in any medium that fits within the format of a postcard. All Postcards will be exhibited together.

Eligible Media: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, etc.
