Christopher D. Sheets – Adjunct Professor of Film and Media Arts
Christopher D. Sheets is a former Professional snowboarder and award-winning filmmaker, editor, cinematographer, and educator with over two decades of professional experience in film, television, and digital media production.
A Summa cum laude graduate of Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Film (4.0 GPA), Christopher brings extensive industry expertise to the classroom. His professional credits include work for Fuel TV, Red Bull, CrossFit, NBC Sports, and numerous independent films and documentaries. Notable projects include editing and motion graphics for the Emmy-nominated documentary series SteelRoots TV, the Regional Emmy-nominated film Pollinators (2023), and the X-Dance People’s Choice Award-winning film Transitions (2009). He has also served as director, cinematographer, and producer on a wide range of short films, commercials, and web series distributed across YouTube, Vimeo, cable television, and film festivals.
Chris is well versed in many professional grade cameras (RED, Blackmagic, ARRI, Canon, Panasonic) and an expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Animate), DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro workflows.
In addition to his work at Yavapai College since 2019, he has taught at Arizona State University’s Sidney Poitier New American Film School, Compass College of Film and Media, Centennial High School, and Palomar College.
Passionate about mentoring the next generation of filmmakers and equipping students with creative vision and industry-standard technical skills, Chris brings a high level of professional experience to the YC Film & Media arts Program.
