Jessica Rae Crocker is a craftsperson and educator residing in Prescott, AZ. She spent her formative years growing up in South Dakota before Moving to the southwest where she received her BFA from the University of Arizona and MFA from San Diego State University in 2016. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Visual Arts, Philosophy, and Aesthetics from IDSVA with concentrated research on the intersection of arts and crafts, ecological thought, and new philosophy. With a focus on ceramic practices, her work explores concepts of intimacy, openness, and interconnectedness through the lens of mythology, history, science, craft, and technology. She has a research-driven practice incorporating traditional ceramic techniques juxtaposed with new technologies and handmade electronics bringing to question the line between industrial prefabrication and the essence of craft. She teaches ceramics and sculpture at Yavapai College and Prescott College in Prescott, AZ where she also runs a small private ceramics studio.
