Back to Faculty

Raised in New York City, Rick was fortunate to have grown up in a family of artists, and to have had gifted and inspirational art teachers throughout his years in the city’s public school system. Rick continued taking art classes in undergraduate and graduate school, studied at New York’s Art Students League, and combined art, literature and history in his doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He left those studies with a masters degree to pursue a career in television production in New York where he was recognized for his work in animated graphics & design, documentaries, entertainment and children’s television. During that period he served as a guest lecturer at Cooper Union, and, his art and photography were shown at the OK Harris Gallery in Soho, the Aaron Faber Gallery in midtown Manhattan, and the Knight Gallery in Woodstock, New York.
After witnessing the second tower falling on 9/11 and debris from the towers covering their Brooklyn neighborhood, Rick and his wife, Maria, made the decision to move to Prescott. Since then, Rick has shown his work at the Mountain Artist Guild, the College Art Gallery, on Court House Square, and has participated in the Prescott Artist Studio Tour.
